EHX unveils the Grand Canyon delay and looper

In somewhat predictable news, Electro-Harmonix is unveiling a big brother to their Canyon delay/looper, aptly named the Grand Canyon. Some improvements include stereo outputs, dedicated knobs for the hidden parameters, ability to use delay and looper independently and a new doubler mode. The Grand Canyon is expected to be priced at $249. See you next year when they announce the Oceans 12 reverb.

EHX unveils 95000 Performance Loop Laboratory

How much looping is too much looping?

EHX introduces the 95000 Performance Loop Laboratory, the company’s most advanced looper to date, featuring six mono tracks and one stereo mixdown track per loop. It will record up to 375 minutes and 100 loops with a 16GB Micro SD card and switching between loops is quick and easy.

The new 95000 is housed in a rugged, aluminum, all metal chassis with a control layout that has been optimized for use as both a tabletop and foot-pedal unit. This new design ensures that the player can take maximum advantage of the looper’s powerful performance capabilities.

The 95000 also features a robust I/O including two audio inputs, each capable of handling a microphone (phantom power is included), instrument or unbalanced line input so the unit can readily connect to all sound sources. Left / right outputs, a Monitor out and a Headphone Out are included.

Electro-Harmonix Canyon Delay and Looper demo

The Canyon was first teased last month at NAMM 2017, but today EHX has put out an official demo video. It's not unlike other multi-delay pedals on the market, but with the Sample & Hold mode and secondary knobs to fine-tune the modulation, it should be a worthy competitor to similarly-priced pedals like the TC Flashback. Prymaxe currently has it at $139.

Packed with more power than pedals taking up more real estate, the compact Canyon features a collection of awe-inspiring effects. From pristine digital delay to warm and warbly tape echo, reverse and modulated delays, cascading octave delay and shimmer… even an exquisite Deluxe Memory Man emulation. There are ten different effects in all plus a fully featured looper. Electro-Harmonix doesn't seem to have an official product page up yet, though it's already on Musician's Friend, with a price of $158.20 and shipping date of Feb 13.

Amazon deal on TC Electronic DITTO X2 Looper

Amazon is running a limited time (and limited stock) offer on the TC Electronic DITTO X2 Looper for $118.31. It normally sells for around $170 at most stores. The deal will end on Christmas around 2:30 AM EST.

Mooer unveils Ocean Machine delay and reverb pedal

Mooer has revealed the Ocean Machine, a signature pedal for Devin Townsend. The Ocean Machine features two delays, a reverb and a looper, which can be arranged in any order. The first delay (Delay A) features digital, echo, galaxy, rotary, tri-mod, liquid, tremolo, reverse and mod-inverse, while Delay B features digital, real, analog, tape, mod, lo-fi, tube, dyna and filler. The reverb section features room, hall, plate, phaser-verb, flanger-verb, filter, reverse, spring and mod, as well as a separate shimmer control knob. Lastly, the looper can play back at half-speed or in reverse. The Ocean Machine has stereo ins and outs, expression pedal control and is MIDI compatible.

The final product is still being tweaked and its price isn't determined yet, but according to a tweet from Devin Townsend, it should go for around $250.

New Donner pedals

Donnerdeal is introducing four new pedals in September.

The Wah Maker is auto-wah pedal. This could based off Mooer's Funky Monkey.

The Grey Pitch is a pitch shifter. This could be a modified version of Mooer's Pitch Box, but with the addition of Dry and Wet knobs.

The Holy Octave is an EHX POG-style polyphonic octaver. This would be an interesting pedal to keep an eye on, as octave pedals generally don't come this cheap ($50)

The Looper is, well, a looper. This could be based on Mooer's new micro looper, although that pedal has 30 minutes of loop time, whereas Donner's has 10.

The Akai E2 HeadRush is $69 (or less) on eBay

The Akai E2 HeadRush is an excellent delay and looper pedal that features long delay times, a highly-regarded tape echo mode and a simple looper that's good enough for Radiohead's Thom Yorke to use in live performances. While this pedal still sells for upwards of $200 at some stores, three stores on eBay (which are likely just different accounts for the same company) is selling the pedal new for $69 with free shipping. These stores also occasionally put them on a 10% off sale, knocking the price down further to just $62.10. This is a great price on a great pedal that could easily sell for more.
